As we head into fall, a new generation of drivers are taking to the streets and swarming into college towns. For many young adults leaving their homes for the first time, life is chaotic. They are under pressure to perform like never before, and they’re also not monitored by their parents for the first time in their lives.
So if they were given a new or used car as a graduation present, even though they may love it and want to keep it for years, they’re probably not thinking about the current upkeep and maintenance of their vehicle.
Now would be a good time for the parents of these kids to encourage the young drivers not to be afraid of their auto repairs and auto repair shops.
They should understand what preventive maintenance does to keep their car running and surviving through the years. When they’re in school, young students are often too busy or distracted to maintain their vehicles, but they need to learn to take preventive maintenance seriously. It’s wise to have your student’s car go through a safety inspection while they’re home and before they take off again.
