How To Stay Safe On The Road During The Busy Weeks Before Halloween

Halloween is one of the busiest times of year for cars–but we rarely think of it that way. We’re more alert and cautious during the winter holidays, but the fact of the matter is that October is busy! Many people spend much more time on the road than usual between trick-or-treating, costume parties, and Halloween-themed works events. This can be an exciting time, but you'll want to take extra precautions so your car doesn't break down and leave you stuck in traffic in an oversized Halloween costume.

Get an oil change.

Changing the oil in your car is one of the most important things a driver can do to ensure their vehicle runs smoothly and safely. Oil changes are crucial for keeping a car's engine healthy and preventing costly repairs down the line. For example, if you don't change your oil regularly, the buildup of sludge in your engine can lead to severe problems like engine failure or fire.

Most cars should be serviced at least every 3,000 miles or before every long drive—and it's best not to wait until right before an extended trip if you're running low on oil. If you've been putting off servicing your automobile because of busy schedules in recent weeks, then this is definitely not something that should be postponed any longer!

Ensure That All Of Your Car's Important Components Are Working Properly

It's essential to ensure that your car's critical components are working correctly before taking it on any long-distance trips, especially during the busy weeks leading up to Halloween. While you may think that it is only necessary for you to check the tires and fluid levels, there are additional items that should be included in this routine.

  • Check tire pressure, fluid levels, belts, and hoses
  • Check lights, horn, and wipers
  • Check wiper blades for wear and tear
  • Check the battery for corrosion or damage

Come see us at Tony’s Brakes & Alignments if you need help with any of this!
