Tony’s Brake & Alignment is your local NAPA AutoCare Center here in the Louisville region. We’re also a reliable Michelin Alliance Dealer. We’ll make sure your vehicle is safe and ready, so you’re “good to go” when and wherever you’d like. To hlep, here are several road trips the staff at Tony’s Brake & Alignment wanted to share with you:

  • Other states have wine tours, but Kentucky has the Bourbon Trail — The Kentucky Distillers’ Association formed the Kentucky Bourbon Trail in 1999, to showcase to visitors the proud history and rich history of Kentucky’s signature spirit. The beautiful scenery and plethora of historic sites to stop by along the way are an added bonus. Seven distilleries as well as those historic sites are in easy day trip range from Louisville, all located in the Louisville-Lexington-Loretto triangle. And if your looking for a more leisurely trip, a three-day journey crisscrossing that triangle is easily doable in any vehicle you choose. For more information about the Bourbon Trail visit https://kybourbontrail.com/.
  • You can be a Shaker too! — The Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, located in Harrodsburg, KY, is less than a 90-minute drive away. The Shakers, more formally known as The Society of Believers, immigrated to America from England in 1774 to avoid religious persecution and founded two thriving communities in Kentucky’s fertile Bluegrass Region. Their way of life centered on agriculture, raising livestock and producing useful crafts which they used first for their own consumption before selling any surpluses. Drive to Shaker Village, a 3,000-acre landmark destination of discovery dedicated to passing on the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers. The easy and scenic drive to and from the Village leaves plenty of time in the day for everyone to discover what the life of a Shaker was, by exploring, working with their hands and try something new to them, but which pays homage to the simpler life this community reminds us of. • Wander the parkways — Did you know Kentucky has more miles of freeways outside the federal interstate system than any other U.S. state except California? You can experience the unique greenness of the Kentucky landscape via road trips on the nine routes that comprise the Kentucky Parkway System. Most drives are in easy day trip range of Louisville, and if you combine two or three, you can build a three or four day getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Not only can you embrace the stunning scenery and heritage of our state’s hills, parks and lakes, you can explore the myriad of small towns, each with a story to tell. For example, you could travel the Country Music Highway in Eastern Kentucky’s Appalachians. The road runs from Ashland at the north end to Whitesburg in the south, through the mountains and valleys steeped in country music and coal mining heritage sites. Visit Loretta Lynn’s Butcher Hollow and the beautiful Jenny Wiley State Park to soak it all in. Other parkways feature Civil War sites, where you’ll learn how being located between the North and the South shaped the culture of our state. Or you can drive 85 miles south of Louisville to explore more than 400-mile cave system in Mammoth Cave National Park. Visit http://bunkerblast.info/roads/srpar.html for more information.
  • Is racing is in your blood? — Fast or slow, racing provides the backdrop for a variety of road trips from Louisville and vicinity. Enjoy the NASCAR circuit at Kentucky Speedway to the north of us, or consider a trek to Indianapolis to catch the iconic Indy 500 open wheel race in May or if you’d rather, Friday Night Nitro and the sheer thrill of quarter-mile NHRA drag racing at the U.S. Nationals in August. And of course, our deep roots in thoroughbred horse racing are showcased at the Kentucky Derby present a unique road trip. In addition, there are more than 450 working, many of which allow tours by appointment. Visit https://visithorsecountry.com/ for help planning your itinerary.
